A (Re)Introduction

Greetings, TWC here.

I welcome you all to my new blog! My previous blog, The Wargaming Cynic was, I thought, a good little blog, and I rather miss it. Sadly, it was a colossal faff, and I decided to draw a line over it and start afresh. The primary issue was google accounts, as I ended up having two, one for each of my emails. The email I used for my blog was my old Hotmail, which was hacked. Even before then, having to sign in and out of different accounts to use different things grew tiresome quickly, and the blog suffered as a result. It turns out it was just easier to start again, and as my readership seemed rather small anyway, I'm hoping my previous audience will find me again if they're still around.

For those of you who liked my old blog: have no fear!  This blog is more or less the same, but significantly better. I will, obviously, be harvesting much of my older material that I deem worth bringing back, and I will also be mixing up the content, so there wont just be articles, but I'll be posting up pictures of my miniatures (and hopefully gaming), and I plan to experiment with a few other visual ideas. I may add a few comic strips, motivators or memetastic pictures if I can come up with any worth sharing.

So, what can you expect from this blog? Well, wordiness for one. I'm not one for mincing words, but I'm also one for using a lot of them. Articles will be a common feature on this blog. I'm a writer: I write stories, and rules of my own devising, and for existing systems and settings. Given my hefty investment in writing, I'm quite an ardent critic of writing in wargames, particularly Games Workshop's, as it is so frequently awful.

There will be a lot of articles on gaming and rules writing, as these are topics I can talk endlessly upon. As I don't quite know what I'll be doing through the weeks, I'll be relying on my views on these to keep the articles and content flowing. I will endeavour to add more hobby-based content this time, however. So not every post will necessarily be waffle.

There will be a large amount of content towards specific topics. 40k Orks, for instance, is a subject that particularly interests me. I have been writing a series of articles on misconceptions about Orks, called Orkish Misconceptions for a forum I frequent, and I will be posting the articles here as well. I will also post my Orky fluff up on here, and, once I see what I can do with this thing, I'll see what I can do about showing the kinds of rules writing I get up to for Orks and 40k.

I'm also writing a number of my own systems, and I will be at the very least showing pictures of the models I'm using, and the games I'm playing. I may talk about rules writing as a subject, but unless I intend to post up the rules for free, I will likely avoid giving away details; for now at least.

I also have other interests that distract me from my Lead Mountain (and the term isn't used lightly, I do have a fairly large one), so I may also discuss computer games, books, music, things I've seen on the internet, and occasionally real life, but I'd prefer to stray away from real life. I like to keep things trivial. Real life sends me towards apathy. If I stick to trivialities I have lots to wind me up about, and that makes much better reading.

Last, but by no means least, I am looking forward to hearing from you. My last blog was low on discussions with other people (and I myself was rather elusive), so I'm hoping to fix that this time. I will warn readers that I do write a lot of material, so this blog is one to follow if you like a good read. I will be pretty merciless with TL:DR comments. If you're here to discuss the wonders of gaming with me, I really want to talk to you. If you're here to remind me how lazy and illiterate the internet is making people, well, the Next Blog tab is not difficult to miss.

Thanks for reading,
